Who are these people?

Why does this make them so happy?

What are they so afraid of?

What is it they think they have won?

"The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The farther you take my rights away
The faster I will run
The more you refuse to hear my voice
The louder I will sing"

I just have no idea. I have nothing near an explination or theory.

"What is it they think they have won?" Is a very apt question.
It almost looks like a "We have something you don't." happy.

But at their own risk, many look "satisfied", not realizing this is not over.
Another ballot in another time will just as quickly reverse yesterday's vote and with the way the country is going, THAT will probably remain intact.

My hope is that some of these people will have a change of heart and be amongst those voting for that next change.
In the above photos, roughly ten people are subjects of those shots. We could right now reasonably estimate that in 5 years, perhaps 3% of North Carolinians who voted Yes on this ballot would have voted No.
Look up there! - I wonder if any of these will make the change!

AND THE DAY HAS COME! Vince, it wasn't even five years!! Today, 10/10/14, marriage equality became law in North Carolina. Halleluja!

Man this was really quite intense reading this again!
Congratulations!
Now we really need some nice gay couple here in MY OWN DANG STATE to bring a lawsuit challenging our own ban.
Four of the five states on which we border have marriage equality.
